Cycle safety review

Question reference: 1179 / 2012
Assembly Member: Caroline Pidgeon
Date: June 2012
Question: Your manifesto commits you to reviewing 500 accident hotspots. Could you now detail the actions that you will take once the reviews have been completed?
Answered: Answered
Written response from the Mayor:

My manifesto referred to my instruction to TfL to “review 500 junctions on its road network to prioritise the roads in most need of change and outline what changes are needed”. This process is ongoing, and external stakeholders are meeting regularly with TfL’s technical experts to agree potential designs for improvements at junctions. Once reviews are complete, TfL will consider the recommendations arising, along with available funding (including the £15m announced by Government in the last Budget), in order to determine a programme of improvements. Schemes identified for implementation would then be subject to TfL’s normal scheme authorisation and consultation processes. The latest information and any updates can be found on TfL’s website.
