March on Streatham Job Centre

Mental Health Resistance Network are calling a protest at Streatham Job Centre on Friday 26th June.

On Friday 26th June, Lambeth Mental Health Services are moving to the Streatham Job Centre. On the same day, Streatham Job Centre will launch the national pilot scheme to force benefits' claimants suspected of having mental health problems into psychological therapy, at the Job Centre itself.

For too many people with mental health problems, thoughts of brown DWP envelopes and any subsequent actions are tortuous and terrifying. Linking Lambeth's services to the Job Centre is deeply disturbing and likely to put people off from using the services and getting the support they desperately need.

There is a great concern that people will be threatened with having their benefits stopped if they did not co-operate with the 'therapy' at the Job Centre.

Mental Health Resistance Network are calling all who can to join them at Streatham Memorial Gardens (Streatham High Street/Streatham Common North) at 12:30 and march to the job centre.
