Londoners not welcome at the London Housing Commission event

On Monday 7th March, IPPR and Savills co-hosted the launch of the final report of the London Housing Commission.

According to the event blurb, "The London Housing Commission was established to define and articulate a clear housing strategy for the next mayor to boost supply, tackle affordability issues, and address failings in the private rented sector over the period of 2016 to 2020 and beyond."

The launch event intended to bring together high-profile experts from across the housing sector, set out the detailed findings and recommendations of the commission, with contributions from leading mayoral candidates (Caroline Pidgeon, Sadiq Khan and Zac Goldsmith).

Londoners, ie the people whose lives will be directly affected by the report, were most certainly not welcome, as a group found out when they turned up at the venue. Considering Savills' previous 'report' on housing, we dread to think what their input this time round may be.
